Healing in Christ Jesus

SERMON

John 10:10, Isaiah 53:3-5

Healing in Christ Jesus

I want us to talk about healing this morning

Healing always brings a wonderful feeling in us brethren. Throughout the bible we see that all those who received healing be it spiritually or physically went away with gladsome mind

Yes Christ came to die for the salvation of mankind, but when you look closely you realize that he came to bring us healing. Healing from the corruption which came with blasphemy of sin and has been passed on from generation to generation from the time of Adam.

Actually about 2/3 of the Gospels stories if you browse through, you will realize that, there focus is on the healing that Christ has brought to mankind.

Healing is a phenomena, a need or experience that we all need brethren.

Healing must never be confined only to one compartment of a human being; bodily sickness.

Because God provides us with Healing that is Holistic: Healing covers soul, bodily and spirit. As Human being our lives are compartmentalized according to the soul, body and spirit;

a.    the soul is that part of us which includes our reason and emotions, it is that part of us which analysis and processes our experiences in life,

b.    the body is that part of us which relates with the physical world, family and  friends, it is basically the world of  materialism(Food, clothing, occupation and so on),

c.    and then there is the spirit ,which is a part of us which relates with the transcendent , it involves our spirituality, our values and ideals which we uphold in life.

God's healing brethren covers all these faculties. That is why Christ say in John 10:10 that I came that you may have life and have it more abundantly.

Brethren I want to point us to the fact that Christ healing power is alive and active to day. That Christ wishes that we have wholeness in body, souls and spirit.

  1. Christ wishes to heal our strained relationships. Hurt by the lose of a beloved one. Hurt by disappoint of those close to our heart

2.    Christ wishes to heal our broken Finances. You may be going through a financial crunch as an individual and you have tried this and that, but things seem not to be working out. Well I have good news for you, Christ wishes to heal your financial situation.

3.    Christ wishes heal wild and negative perceptions and attitudes we have about ourselves and others (Sometimes the negative experiences we have gone through in life can really affect out attitude and character; may be we have been despised often people when we were growing up, called names and told you that you will never make it in life, and this has caused you to feel unworthy, angry and violent. James says that the power of the tongue should never be despised, as small as it is it can be destructive.

4.    Christ wishes to heal us from our addictions, bondages and strongholds in our lives. You don't need to be gloomy all your life, you don't need to be violent, you don' need to hold a grudge any more, you don't need to continue laying or stealing anymore, you don't need to be addicted to adultery or fornication or pornography.

Because Christ wishes to heal our bodies, souls and spirit

a)    But We must want to be healed. Desire or willingness on our part is very important. Become desperate for your healing as Zacchaeus was when he climbed the sycamore tree, or like the tow blind men who kept on pressing through the crowed for their healing, (Matt 20:31 The crowd told them to be quiet. But they shouted even louder, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!"

b)    We must have faith that Jesus is able to heal us

c)    We must tell God in which areas we need healing in our lives. Time and again when Jesus encountered people who wanted healing from him, he always asked them the question "What would you want me to do for you?".

Probably the question Christ is asking each one of us today is:

"What would you want me to do for you?".

Conclusion

As human beings we have

Times of Joy

Time for pleasure

Time of laughter because something funny has been said or because we are happy. Thank God for such light moments and my prayer is and this should be our prayer brethren; that we may  experience more of light times in our live.

But like the Preacher of Ecclesiasts says; there time for everything. As much as we may experience light moments in our lives there also times when we hurt social, emotionally, physically and even spiritually when we have a spiritual disposition when we stray from our creator and lower our morals to suit the world.

When this happens brethren we need healing.

And Healing is available for us to claim it today , in Christ Jesus. Amen
